Meet Chris Bostwick — Traditional Tattoo Artist & Owner of Crispy Tattoo

Hi, I'm Chris Bostwick. I'm a traditional tattoo artist and the owner of Crispy Tattoo — my own studio in Mount Vernon, Iowa, built around one straightforward idea: make work that lasts.

I've been tattooing for several years with a focus on American Traditional and bold custom work. Opening my own shop was the natural next step — a space I could build from the ground up with the right atmosphere, the right process, and no shortcuts.

American Traditional is what I keep coming back to. Bold outlines, solid color, timeless imagery. A well-executed traditional tattoo looks just as sharp 20 years from now as it does the day it's done. That's the standard I hold every piece to.

Every design is drawn custom for each client. I also have a full wall of tattoo flash for you to pick from if you need inspiration — I want to build something that actually means something to you and fits your body well. That takes a real conversation, some trust, and a willingness to let the design breathe.

Tattooing is collaborative. My favorite clients are people who trust the process, know what they want to feel, and aren't in a rush to cut corners. If that sounds like you, I'd genuinely love to work together.

Crispy Tattoo is located in Mount Vernon, Iowa — a short drive from Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. Walk-ins welcome Tuesday through Saturday, 12–7pm.
